Product Research - Test Results
Effectiveness
Registry Smart did in fact manage to scan our test PC in under two minutes. Registry Smart appeared to run a thorough scan, identifying many registry, and even hard-drive related issues, including:
- missing or corrupt DLL Files
- Windows Startup Errors
- Internet Explorer Errors
- Runtime Errors
- and others...
At first we were concerned that the quick scanning time might indicate that Registry Smart had missed crucial errors, we found that it had in fact identified the majority of registry issues . It failed to fix a few invalid filepaths, but nothing too major.
Our test PC, which had been displaying a lot of system 32 error messages, and frequent "Blue Screen" crashes, appeared to be much more stable, with little to no error messages. There was a marked improvement after running Registry Smart.
Ease of Use
Registry Smart uses a very uncluttered and minimalist user interface. It keeps the options to a minimum, keeping its focus primarily on what it was designed to do: scan & clean registries. The whole process is one of the simplest ones we've tested.
Registry Smart also gives you the option to select which errors you want to fix, which you is great if you are an advanced user. However, if you are inexperienced in registry tweaking, you are better off just skipping that option entirely.
Customer Service
Registry Smart has support for owners of the full registered version in it's members-only part of the website.
Bottom Line: Registry Smart will certainly improve a computer with frequent crashes and error messages, but it may not be the most thorough of registry cleaners. As with most registry programs, it offers a free scan, so you can at least see what sort of errors it turns up before purchasing it.
